The midway state is a four piece, piano-driven rock band fronted by Nathan Ferraro, a prolific 20 year old singer-songwriter from Collingwood, Ontario. With diverse influenes ranging from Phil Collins and Elton John to Carol King, Van Morrison and Peter Gabriel, on a more comtemporary level the midway state's sound falls somewhere among the Coldplays and Snow Patrols of the world with well crafted songs and storied lyrics delivered in Ferraro's sweet and distintive vocal style. The band's music, with its melancholic but overal hopeful tone, is instantaly familiar yet undeniably refreshing and unique. The band's independent, eponymously titled, debut EP released late last year saw them tour the US and Canada extensively, both on their own and in support of other artists including a long string of dates opening for LA's Shiny Toy Guns. With over 300 shows under their belt and their music having been featured on shows such as "The OC", the midway state was lucky enough to quickly win the attention of several major US labels, ultimately signing to Universal Music's Interscope Records. Produced by Juno-award winning producer Gavin Brown (Billy Talent, Three Days Grace) and mixed by internationally acclaimed Randy Staub (Brian Adams, Our Lady Peace, Avril Lavigne, Metallica), "Met A Man on Top of the Hill" is a fully remixed and remastered 4 song version re-issue of the original EP with all new artwork, being simulatenously released in Canada (Remedy Music) and the US (Interscope). The band's debut full length is slated for release later this year. Expect the band on tour throughout North America as of June 2007 including performances at VFest, supported by a video for "Change For You" (directed by Stevo of Sum41) and a full national marketing campaign including TV and radio advertising, street marketing, radio promotions and press & publicity.
